Jones' Glamorgan contract expires after the 2007 season |
Glamorgan's new cricket manager Matthew Maynard says sorting out bowler Simon Jones' position will be a priority. The injury-plagued England paceman's contract at the Welsh county expires after the 2007 season.
"I have to sit down with Simon and the medical people, but I won't rush into a decision," Maynard told BBC Sport.
"We'd all love to see Simon back to his best after his knee trouble and opening the bowling for England. Hopefully he has a huge future at Glamorgan."
Jones missed most of last season after knee surgery in America and has been little-used this year because of an inflamed knee.

Former Glamorgan captain Maynard, 41, says he is reluctant to get too involved with team matters before his new job officially begins on 24 September.
Maynard, who left his role as England assistant coach in April, will work alongside Dragons coach Adrian Shaw and assistant Steve Watkin.
"It's great to have my appointment out in the open after all the speculation," Maynard told BBC Sport Wales.
"I talked to Glamorgan shortly after the World Cup. The time and commitment needed to give to England was too much for my family.
"I always hoped there would be something back in Cardiff and I'm really up for the challenge.
"It's not an easy task at Glamorgan, it's going to come down to hard work and commitment to each other."
