Simon Jones' Glamorgan contract expires at the end of this season |
Glamorgan chairman Paul Russell says the Welsh county are determined to keep England paceman Simon Jones. The injury-plagued 28-year-old's contract with the Dragons expires at the end of this current season.
"We will do everything we can to keep Simon, he's an iconic player," Russell told BBC Sport Wales.
"On his day he's capable of bowling as well as anybody in the world and better than most - it beholds us as a business to hang onto an asset like Simon."
Jones missed most of last season after knee surgery in America and has been little-used this year because of an inflamed knee.

"Simon Jones' recovery... to describe it as slow and measured gives it a sense of pace it doesn't deserve!" Russell added.
Glamorgan have struggled badly on the pitch this season, winning just one Division Two County Championship match and also produced lacklustre results in limited overs competitions.
But playing resources have been stretched as Jones, fellow bowler David Harrison and batsman Mike Powell have all missed most of the campaign through injury.
