 | I still have ambitions in and out of the game |
Former Glamorgan captain Robert Croft has promised to give his full support to new skipper David Hemp and coach Adrian Shaw in the next season. The ex-England spinner, who has two years left on his Glamorgan playing deal, stepped down in September.
With close ally John Derrick now gone as coach at the club, many wondered what the future held for Croft, 36.
"I've spoken to Adrian and David and - if needed - I have offered all the support I can give," said Croft.
"I'm looking forward to just getting back in the ranks, playing and enjoying myself.
"I still have ambitions in and out of the game, and the best place for me - so long as I'm fit and in form - is on the field with Glamorgan.
"I'm loving my cricket and training harder than ever. I will be giving it everything I've got."
Swansea-man Croft was skipper at Sophia Gardens from 2003-6, but handed over the reins in September after two dismal seasons that saw the side relegated from the top flight of the Championship and the National League.

"There's no denying it's been a turbulent time at the county," Croft told BBC Sport Wales.
"Glamorgan are in a transitional period and there have been a lot of personnel changes.
"You can't say it was a surprise that John [Derrick] went after I did, we were a close partnership.
"But it wasn't a knee-jerk thing, the management took their time to review things at the end of the season before coming to their decisions.
"John is a solid individual who will be proud of what he has achieved at Glamorgan.
"He still loves the club and will be optimistic about the future."
