Matthew Maynard is England's one-day assistant coach |
Glamorgan could be without batsman Matthew Maynard for a month in the middle of next season because of his coaching commitments with England. Maynard, 38, is assistant coach to the one-day side, who play Bangladesh and Australia through June and July.
He will miss all eight Twenty20 group matches, two Totesport League matches and three Championship matches.
"It's something we will discuss further when he returns from South Africa," said chief executive Mike Fatkin.
"It's not an easy one. It's difficult to say no, and what would we gain by saying no?
"The request has come from the ECB, of which we are a part, and after all we exist for the overall good of England.
"We have to look at the bigger picture here. If we said no, we would probably have a disffected cricketer on our hands, whose future career we were holding back.
"He will be missed but it is a chance for us to bring on someone else before Matthew retires," Fatkin told the Western Mail.
Glamorgan could also be without Alex Wharf, Simon Jones and Australian Mike Kasprowicz during the one-day series.
