England role for Maynard

Maynard will become England's one-day assistant coach
Matthew Maynard will be England's assistant coach for the one-day series in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

"He has the qualifications, experience and energy for the role. I'm sure he will be an asset to the one-day side," said England coach Duncan Fletcher.

Maynard, 38, will continue playing for Glamorgan for at least another season.

Troy Cooley will be assistant coach for the first three Tests in South Africa, Mike Watkinson taking over for the last two when Cooley joins the Academy.

"The team will benefit from the input that these three assistant coaches provide during the winter," said Fletcher.

"Mike Watkinson was a success last winter, particularly in working with the bowlers, and he will be well placed to carry on that good work."

Maynard, who this summer broke Glamorgan's record for first-class centuries, has been granted a testimonial year by the Welsh county.

Fletcher is no stranger to Maynard's talents, having previously coached the Welsh county.

Maynard played in four Tests and 15 one-day internationals for England, and has captained the England Sixes team.
