Maunders' highest score in four-day cricket last season was 150 |
Essex opening batsman John Maunders has signed a new one-year contract, keeping him at Chelmsford until September 2010. The 27-year-old joined Essex from Leicestershire in 2008 after spending the previous four years at Grace Road. Maunders made 560 runs in the County Championship during the 2009 season at an average of 32.94. That included a valuable 55 in Essex's successful run chase to beat Derbyshire on the final day of the campaign and win promotion from Division Two. Essex coach Paul Grayson said: "We are delighted John has decided to extend his stay with Essex."
