Masters has taken 18 wickets for Essex so far this season
Essex seam bowler David Masters said his side must replicate their one-day form in the longer format of the game.
Masters helped his side to their third win from four Friends Provident Trophy matches against Lancashire on Sunday.
But they have won only once in their opening four games in Division Two of the County Championship.
Masters told BBC Essex: "It's hard to put a finger on it, we do the same kind of things and I think it's something we have to get better in."
"I don't know what that is at the moment, but we work day-in and day-out to try and get better at that and I'm sure we will," he added.
Although the season is still in its infancy, Masters believes the squad have already shown they have the potential to once again be a potent force in the one-day game.
"We've got a good outfit, everyone knows what they're doing and we can tinkle with it, bring people in and out as we need to," he explained.
"We've got our own way of playing and it's worked so far."
