Muchall's half-century was one of few bright points in the Lancs defeat
Durham all-rounder Gordon Muchall believes the arrival of Australian batsman David Warner can revive their Twenty20 Cup quarter-final hopes.
Warner will arrive on Wearside after his ICC World Twenty20 exploits with his country and Muchall hopes his presence can lift the squad.
"When Warner goes in and and fires with the bat then it puts the result in no doubt," he told BBC Newcastle.
"There's no reason we can't win the games we've got left."
Muchall's half-century in their six-wicket defeat by Lancashire at Old Trafford, which left Durham second bottom of the North Division with four games left, was one of the few bright spots in a disappointing innings by the county.
Durham have struggled when their usually prolific batsmen, including Phil Mustard and Ian Blackwell, have failed to hit form.
But Newcastle-born right-hander Muchall is confident they have the right personnel to turn things round.
"When you look at our batting line-up, we just haven't fired yet," he said.
"We've got Phil Mustard at the top of the order, Ian Blackwell, we've seen Dale Benkenstein smash the ball about to all parts in this competition, Michael DiVenuto.
"We've got a bit of a break from the Twenty20 game now with some Championship cricket, and then David Warner comes so we're by no means out of the competition, we've just made it hard for ourselves."
