Rogers was named Derbyshire skipper halfway through the 2008 season |
Captain Chris Rogers has been named Derbyshire's player of the year at the club's annual awards evening. The 32-year-old batsman was also presented with the County Championship player of the year trophy at the club's Gateway Centre Cricket Hall. Rogers missed the opening month of the season due to a delay getting his Visa. But he has piled on the runs since his return, scoring 1,197 first-class runs at an average of 66.50 and hitting more than 700 runs in limited-overs cricket. South African born all-rounder Greg Smith was also a double award winner, taking the limited overs player of the year and most improved player awards.
