 | We keep putting ourselves in winning positions and are not able to finish the job |
Derbyshire head of cricket John Morris has told his team their performance in Sunday's Pro40 defeat against Kent was simply not good enough. The Phantoms were brushed aside by four wickets despite posting 259-8. Derbyshire have only won two championship games all season, placed bottom of their Twenty20 Cup group and failed to progress in the FP Trophy. "It's not about effort, it's not about commitment to winning, it's about skill levels," Morris told BBC Radio Derby. "And some of the skill levels are not getting to the stage where we need them to be. "We've lost a game of cricket we should have won. "We keep putting ourselves in winning positions and are not able to finish the job." Derbyshire have a nine-day break before a return to county championship action, when they entertain Kent at the County Ground.
