Langeveldt joined Derbyshire in April 2008

Derbyshire fast bowler Charl Langeveldt has been ruled out for the season after aggravating an old shoulder injury playing in the Indian Premier League.

The South African, 34, was hurt playing for Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday and needs an operation that will sideline him for up to five months.

Derbyshire head of cricket John Morris had only reluctantly allowed Langeveldt to play in the tournament.

Morris said: "This is devastating news not just for us but also for Charl."
