Graham Wagg has been in fine form for Derbys over the past two seasons |
All-rounder Graham Wagg has been voted as Derbyshire's player of the year. Wagg picked up the prize at the club's annual awards evening on Wednesday night, after what is widely thought to be the best season of his career. The 25-year-old former Warwickshire man last week signed a new Derbyshire deal, tieing him to the club until 2010. Wagg hit his maiden County Championship century against Northants in July, as well as getting the double of 500 runs and 50 wickets in first-class cricket. The former England A man, who joined Derbyshire in 2006 following his return to the game after a year-long drug ban, has now managed the prestigious double in both his two full seasons at the County Ground. Wagg was this week rewarded for his impressive season with a call-up to the England squad for the Hong Kong sixes in November.
