Rain washed out the County Championship clash between Somerset and Durham at Taunton for a second successive day.

Although the rain stopped during the morning, so much had fallen in the previous 24 hours that the outfield was left saturated.

It left umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Richard Illingworth with little option but to abandon play following a pitch inspection at 1430 BST.

Somerset will hope to resume their first innings on Friday on 287-4.
