Northants' promotion hopes took a blow as rain forced them to settle for a draw with Derbyshire at Chesterfield.

With the hosts 30-0 overnight chasing 322 for victory, rain halted proceedings 35 minutes into the day.

The players returned at 1430 BST but another downpour 25 minutes later sent them back to the pavilion for the final time with Derbyshire 76-0.

Northants collect seven points and stay third in Division Two, while Derbyshire take nine points and remain bottom.
