Nixon has claimed six first-class half-centuries this summer |
Veteran Paul Nixon hit an unbeaten half century as Leicestershire batted out a rain-affected final day at Swansea to draw with hosts Glamorgan. Resuming on 41-2, two runs behind, the visitors reached 221-6 - an overall lead of 178 - before the two captains shook hands on a draw. Nixon made up for his first-innings duck, finishing with 57 not out. Night-watchman Jigar Naik (35) and James Taylor (43) also produced crucial displays at the crease. Promotion-chasing Glamorgan had hoped to secure their sixth County Championship victory of the season going into the final day. They looked to be on course when James Harris bowled Jacques du Toit with the first ball of the morning to leave the visitors on 41-3. But Leicestershire proved too resilient, averaging just over two runs an over in both innings as they battled their way to a draw. Glamorgan's seven points means they have moved up to second in Division Two, five ahead of next week's opponents Gloucestershire.
