Oxfordshire captain Ian Hawtin says his team are determined to end their silverware drought. Last season Oxfordshire lost out in the race to win the Minor Counties Championship Western Division on the final day of the season. And 43-year-old Hawtin told BBC Oxford: "This year we actually want to go on and win it. "Over the past five or six years that I have been captain, there has been a steady improvement." Hawtin's team failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Minor Counties Trophy last month, but he still feels positive about the chances of success in the three-day game. He said: "We still have very good experienced players in the side, but younger players are coming through which bodes well, not only for this season, but for the future as well." Oxfordshire last won the Minor Counties Championship in 1989.
