James Franklin frustrated his old Glamorgan team-mates with a half-century which helped Gloucestershire save the follow-on in Cardiff.

Franklin's knock of 66 led a recovery from 95-4 to 251-7 at the close.

Kadeer Ali, Alex Gidman and Steve Adshead were all dismissed in the forties, James Allenby and James Harris taking two wickets each.

Earlier, Glamorgan achieved their aim of getting maximum batting points, as they were all out for 410.

Resuming on 380-7, the home side lost two quick wickets.

James Harris fell in the fourth over of the morning edging off-spinner Richard Dawson to slip and three balls later Dean Cosker went leg before.

But last wicket pair Robert Croft and Garnett Kruger navigated their side to the fifth point before Kruger became Dawson's fourth victim, holing out to midwicket.
