Glamorgan's Gareth Rees hit his fourth first-class half-century of the season

Opener Gareth Rees top scored with 88 as four Glamorgan batsmen all made runs on a profitable opening day at Cardiff against Gloucestershire.

Michael Powell (84), Mark Cosgrove (80) and James Allenby (79) backed up Rees as the home side closed on 380-7.

With both sides still in the promotion hunt - Gloucestershire in fourth and Glamorgan fifth - it was an important battle for points at Sophia Gardens.

Jonathan Lewis was the pick of the visitors bowlers with 3-58.
