Gloucestershire ended in control on day two at Bristol after Surrey collapsed, losing nine wickets for just 81 runs. Having begun the day on 96-1, Surrey were skittled for 183 as paceman Steve Kirby (3-32) took his first-class wicket tally for the season to 56. Gloucestershire ended the day 41 ahead on 224-3, with Rob Woodman (32) and Kadeer Ali (39) sharing a season-best opening stand for the county of 77. Hamish Marshall (72no) and Alex Gidman (62no) then led the way for the hosts.
