PRO40 DIVISION ONE, Taunton: Somerset 211-5 beat Yorkshire 208 by five wickets (Somerset 2pts)
James Hildreth hit only his third limited-over 50 of the summer |
James Hildreth hit an unbeaten 62 as Somerset got their Pro40 campaign off and running with a five-wicket win against Yorkshire at Taunton. Jacques Rudolph top scored with 95 for the visitors as Yorkshire were bowled out in the last over for 208. But Somerset openers Marcus Trescothick (39) and Craig Kieswetter (37) put on 77 to give the home side a sound start. And Hildreth saw his side to 211-5, sharing a match-winning sixth wicket stand of 69 with Arul Suppiah (32no). Going into the final 10 overs, Somerset still needed 57 to win with only five wickets left remaining. But 21 off the 31st over, bowled by Adil Rashid, including two sixes by Suppiah, effectively settled the outcome. And there were 19 balls to spare when Hildreth hit the winning runs, driving Deon Kruis to the Old Pavilion boundary.
