Croft hit 11 fours and one six in the eighth first-class hundred of his career |
Robert Croft and Adam Shantry both hit centuries to give Glamorgan the advantage over Leicestershire on day three at Colwyn Bay. After beginning the day on 320-8, the pair extended their ninth-wicket stand to 197, Shantry finishing on a round 100, his maiden first-class ton. When he fell, Croft (121) then shared 73 with last man Dean Harrison as Glamorgan were bowled out for 566. Leicestershire then lost two wickets by the close on 77-2, still 176 adrift. Glamorgan began the day with a seven-run lead. But, with the last two wickets yielding 270 runs, they eventually ended 243 ahead. Shantry took 191 balls in becoming the first Glamorgan number 10 for 80 years to score a century, reaching the landmark with a straight four off Harry Gurney, before being bowled off the next delivery. Croft, aided by Harrison, forged ahead to record the eighth first-class ton of his career, from 237 deliveries. Then, an opening stand of 25 between Smith and Thompson was broken when Jamie Dalrymple bowled Smith in his first over. And, when Thompson was trapped lbw by Dean Cosker, it was left to HD Ackerman and Boeta Dippenaar to trim the deficit to 176 at the close.
