Brooks took two wickets against Australia for Northants
Former Oxfordshire seam bowler Jack Brooks says he is determined to make the most of his shot at a professional career at Northants.
The 25-year-old from Tiddington had trials at Surrey before being offered a contract at the County Ground and wants to prove he can play at the top level.
"I thought my chance had gone," Brooks told BBC Oxford.
"But I got my head down, worked really hard at my fitness, had my chance and took it."
Brooks took his first two first-class wickets in an Ashes warm-up game against Australia last week and admits it was an overwhelming experience.
"It was just a really surreal feeling taking those wickets - the adrenalin rush was amazing.
"People may have seen my celebrations, running around - I didn't know what I was doing at the time. A lot of relief came through."
