Heavy showers forced day one of the Championship match between Warwickshire and Lancashire at Edgbaston to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Umpires Trevor Jesty and John Steele ruled out any prospect of play at 1530 BST, despite the sun shining.

Rain also hit Warwickshire's Pro40 game against Middlesex on Tuesday, when only two overs were possible.

The Bears are currently winless and second bottom of Division One, while Lancashire are fourth.
