Gareth Andrew took one-day best figures of 5-31 as Worcestershire edged to a 12-run victory over Yorkshire in a tight Pro40 contest at New Road.

Chasing 191 to win, Yorkshire looked well placed with experienced Jacques Rudolph at the crease.

But after he ran himself out for 68, to leave the Tykes 157-7, they could only stumble to 178 all out.

Earlier, 46 from 37 balls from Steven Davies and 49 from Daryl Mitchell helped Worcestershire post 190-9.

Opener Davies helped Worcestershire get off to a flying start after losing captain Vikram Solanki to the first ball of the innings, caught at slip by Rudolph off Deon Kruis.

But after he was second man out, bowled by Tim Bresnan with the score on 68, the home side got bogged down and were reduced to 90-5, with their top batsmen all out.

They looked set for a meagre total too after crawling to 133-6 with five overs left, but Mitchell inspired a late rally by helping add 57 in that time to give them something to bowl at.

Yorkshire began their run chase in rapid fashion, racing to 57-0 inside 10 overs.

But Andrew gave Worcestershire a boost by removing Andrew Gale (24) and the dangerous Rana Naved-ul-Hasan in successive balls, before also having Anthony McGrath athletically caught at gully by Stephen Moore to leave Yorkshire 63-3.

Adam Lyth (30) added 51 for the fourth wicket with Rudolph, only for Moeen to turn the game back in Worcestershire's favour with his off spin.

First he bowled Lyth behind his legs, and then Jonathan Bairstow with the very next ball, before having Tim Bresnan smartly caught behind by Davies to post career-best one-day bowling figures of 3-32.

Yorkshire still had a chance with Rudolph at the crease, but after he was run out by a distance after setting off for a suicidal single after reverse-sweeping straight to Moeen, their challenge faded.

Facing an ever-increasing run rate, Rich Pyrah was bowled by Chris Whelan for 27 before Andrew returned to wrap up victory in the final over by dismissing David Wainwright and Kruis in successive balls.

Worcestershire seamer Gareth Andrew told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"This win will boost the whole club really, because we haven't played brilliant cricket in the last few weeks.

"We looked at the wicket and we knew around 200 would be a competitive score.

"I wish every game went like that for me, but we clawed it back well and we worked for each other as a unit.

"I think I've been doing OK in the one-day form and pushed myself into the four-day team every now and then."
