HD Ackerman top scored in a commanding Leicestershire fightback

A third-wicket 314-run stand between Boeta Dippenaar and HD Ackerman helped Leicestershire force a draw against Surrey at Grace Road.

Having started the final day on 181-2, only 17 runs in front, Ackerman (180) and Dippenaar (143) survived for 83 overs to ensure they avoided defeat.

The two South Africans put on a county record stand for games against Surrey as Leicestershire declared on 487-5.

But it was not enough to lift winless Leicester off the foot of Division Two.
