Warwickshire survived a mid-innings stumble to boost their prospects of Twenty20 Cup progress with a four-wicket win over Glamorgan at Edgbaston.

Chasing 149, the Bears were flying at 84-2 after six overs thanks to 33 from Jonathan Trott and Jim Troughton's 29.

But they slumped to 90-4 and then 112-5 before a cameo from Rikki Clarke (24no) saw them home with seven balls left.

Jamie Dalrymple's 63 and an unbeaten 39 from Michael Powell helped Glamorgan make 148-7 from their 20 overs.

Clarke and Jeetan Patel both recorded bowling figures of 2-31 from four overs for Warwickshire.

It was the Bears' fifth victory in this season's competition and saw them move into a three-way tie with Northants and Somerset at the top of the Midlands/Wales/West Division, with only net run rate separating the sides.

With two games left to play, they must beat Worcestershire at New Road on Friday and Somerset at Edgbaston on Sunday to guarantee a quarter-final place, while Glamorgan's already slim hopes of getting through are now over.

All four of the Bears' previous victories had come when chasing a target and this was no different after they won the toss and elected to field.

They were given the perfect platform for their run chase by Neil Carter's 12 off eight balls and the big-hitting of Trott and Troughton.

Trott's 33 came off only 17 balls, including two sixes, and saw him move into the all-time top 10 run scorers in Twenty20 cricket, with 1,437 - 345 of which have come this season - and to the top of the run scoring charts in the English competition.

Troughton was even brisker, his 29, including three maximums, coming off 13 balls.

And even though the Bears has a mid-innings wobble, losing Trott, Troughton, Ian Bell and Ian Westwood in quick succession, run rate was never a problem.

Dalrymple had threatened to help Glamorgan post a bigger target, hitting nine fours and a six in making his second half century against Warwickshire in this season's competition.

But after he was out top-edging a reverse sweep off Patel to Ambrose, the rest of the batting line-up struggled to provide Powell with sufficient support.
