Jon Lewis led the wicket taking for Gloucestershire at Bristol

Gloucestershire enjoyed an inspired first day in their County Championship match against Middlesex at Bristol.

The visitors were given a torrid time after losing the toss and being put into bat.

They were dismissed for just 153 before tea, former England paceman Jon Lewis leading the wicket-taking with 3-34.

Only four Middlesex players made double figures, England captain Andrew Strauss top scoring with 32 before the home side raced to 144-3 by the close.
