COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Old Trafford Lancashire v Somerset 6-9 June (Play starts 1100 BST) CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY TWO: Lancs 281-9 (Lancs 2pts, Somerset 3pts)
Lancashire lost six wickets for 55 to give Somerset the advantage on day two of their County Championship match.
After the first day at Old Trafford was lost to rain, opener Paul Horton (69) and Ashwell Prince (48) put Lancashire in charge at 162-2 after opting to bat.
But after Prince was dismissed by Peter Trego, they slumped to 217-8 before Glenn Chapple (55) saw them to 281-9.
David Stiff took 3-70 for Somerset, while there were two wickets each for Trego, Alfonso Thomas and Arul Suppiah.
Stiff claimed the early wickets of Tom Smith and Mal Loye, on his return to the side after injury.
But it was Trego who started the collapse when he had Prince caught at gully by Suppiah, to end a stand of 87 with Horton, and Mark Chilton caught at slip by Justin Langer.
Langer then caught Francois du Plessis off Thomas, who also had Horton caught behind.
Luke Sutton was caught behind off Suppiah and Stiff bowled Sajid Mahmood to leave the Red Rose county deep in trouble.
Captain Chapple came to his side's rescue with 55 off 79 balls but he was bowled by Suppiah just before the close to give Somerset the edge.
