Yasir Arafat was vital for Rob Key's Kent in Friday's match |
Holders Kent will travel to Edgbaston on 9 July to play Warwickshire in the Twenty20 Cup quarter-finals. Inspired by Yasir Arafat who took 3-12 and scored 42, Kent beat Sussex by 50 runs to ensure qualification. Yorkshire also had to win their last match to make the last eight and will travel to face Durham on 7 July. Essex host Northants on the same day, while Middlesex will play Lancashire at The Oval on 8 July because Lord's is hosting a Test from 10 July. | 606: DEBATE | Warwickshire, who were unbeaten until Friday, are sure to give Kent a stern test at their Edgbaston headquarters. And Kent captain Robert Key said his side would have to cope with a tight schedule, with a Friends Provident semi-final against Durham and County Championship match against Yorkshire either side of the quarter-final. "It's going to be incredibly tough for us. The good thing is we are going well in all competitions so we cannot wait for the matches to come," he told the club's website. "There will be some tired bodies over the next couple of weeks but it's great to go through. "We are defending champions in the Twenty20 Cup and I'm delighted with how things are going right now." Bookmakers installed Durham - who like Warwickshire only lost one group match - as their favourites for the competition. However Yorkshire bowler Matthew Hoggard is expecting a close match between two counties who will have met three times within a month prior to the quarter-final. "We saw them twice last weekend, we are seeing them on Sunday for the four-day game and then we are going to have to travel up there for this," he told Sky Sports. "So I don't think there will be any surprises, we know where everybody hits it and where everyone bowls so it should be an even, fair contest."
