COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO Gloucester (day four): Gloucestershire 420 & 228-8 dec drew with Warwickshire 410 Points: Glos 11, Warwicks 10
Chris Taylor struck 77 to ensure a draw for Gloucestershire after Warwickshire threatened a shock final day victory. The Bears added only 11 with their final two wickets to concede a first innings deficit of 10, leaving Tony Frost unbeaten on a career-best 144. Glos breezed to 41 in their second innings before four wickets fell for 12 runs in the space of 28 balls. That left them only 119 ahead at 109-5 but Taylor took his match tally to 181 runs when Glos declared 210 ahead. Glos had reached just 111 when Steve Snell, on nought, edged Carter between wicket-keeper and first slip. He went on to contribute 33 before he was caught at slip off the glove. Even at 200-8, a lead of 210, Glos were in some danger with more than 30 overs remaining in the match. But skipper Jon Lewis batted, despite the shoulder injury which had prevented him bowling on the final two days, and Matthew Gitsham helped him add 28 for the ninth wicket as the overs left dwindled.
