County Championship D1, Headingley, day two (close): Hampshire 246-9 v Yorkshire 350Tim Bresnan had a fine day with bat and ball as Hampshire closed day two 104 behind Yorkshire at 246-9.
Bresnan moved to within nine of a century and then claimed three wickets, including Shane Warne, who fell four his fourth duck at Headingley.
Bresnan and Jason Gillespie took their ninth-wicket stand to 144, before the Australian fell in compatriot Warne's first over of the day.
Dominic Thornely was unbeaten 74 but Hampshire lost seven wickets for 58.
Having dismissed Gillespie, Warne denied Bresnan a maiden Championship century by trapping him lbw in his next over.
But Bresnan gained his revenge on the Hampshire skipper, who only just kept out a yorker first up but then attempted to hook a bouncer and top-edged off the shoulder of the bat to first slip.
Hampshire openers Michael Carberry and Jimmy Adams compiled an opening stand of 60 in 23 overs before the collapse began.
