New Zealand's Scott Styris grabbed 5-57 to help Middlesex to an innings and 23-runs victory over Glamorgan in their County Championship game.

Glamorgan, who are rooted to the bottom of Division One, began the day on 79-2, with Mark Wallace and Jonathan Hughes looking comfortable at the crease.

Wallace fell after making 64, before Hughes followed him having made 41.

Sourav Ganguly and Mike Powell made half-centuries but after they fell, Styris swept up the tail in quick time.

Glamorgan have now lost nine of their 10 County games.

After the loss of Wallace and Hughes, Glamorgan still looked as if they had a chance of making Middlesex bowl again when Ganguly and Powell began notching up the runs.

But after Ganguly, in his last innings for Glamorgan, was trapped lbw by Styris off the final ball before lunch, it was all but over.

After the break Glamorgan slumped from 208 for five to 279 all out in only 24 overs, with Styris taking the last four wickets.
