At stumps on day three at Edgbaston, they were 97-2 chasing an unlikely 411 to win after the hosts had declared on 320-9, Nick Knight making 94.

Spinners Malinga Bandara and Martyn Ball shared seven wickets and Jim Troughton hit his second half-century.

In the Gloucestershire second innings, Naqaash Tahir took both the wickets.
