| Friday, 9 August, 2002, 14:16 GMT 15:16 UK Rain denies Yorkshire County Championship, D1, day three of four, Headingley: Yorkshire 304-9 v Warwickshire 233 Yorkshire were frustrated in their bid for a first championship win of the season as rain washed out the third day's play against Warwickshire at Headingley. The champions are desperate for a win to help lever themselves off the foot of the table and avoid the ignomy of relegation. Chris Taylor's resolute half-century and a battling 75 from Darren Lehmann helped them to 304 for nine in reply to Warwickshire's 233 by stumps on Thursday. But persistent rain resulted in a saturated outfield and puddles on the covers, leaving the umpires little option but to abandon any hope of play at 14.30 BST.
