Weather hits county play
The covers go on at Trent Bridge
Rain at Trent Bridge was reflected around the country
Rain throughout England cut a swathe through Sunday's National Union League matches.

Although they started on time, just three overs were possible at Oakham School before bad weather brought a halt to Leicestershire's match against Worcestershire.

The home side had reached 11 without loss at the time, with Trevor Ward nine not out.

The Royals missed an opportunity to close the gap on Warwickshire at the top of Division One, but the Bears were in a similar predicament.

Play against Somerset at Edgbaston was abandoned at 2pm, the Sabres being handed their first points of the season.

Nottinghamshire keep pace with them at the bottom of the table after sharing the points with Yorkshire, the game at Trent Bridge being called off just after 4pm.

Three lead

Hampshire enjoyed a three-hour spell atop the second division as their match against Derbyshire at the Rose Bowl was called of just an hour after the scheduled start.

But they were rejoined by Northants and Gloucestershire, all on 10 points, when play between the two was abandoned at Northampton at 5pm.

Middlesex missed the chance to register their first win of the year despite a positive start against Sussex.

Chad Keegan dismissed Mike Yardy lbw for a duck off the fifth ball of the day.

But then the heavens opened with Sussex on 25 for one and play was finally abandoned at 5pm.

Cardiff finally saw play at 4pm, though, and the match was a thriller, three wickets in the final over handing Glamorgan a tie with Kent.
