Thrilling tie in Cardiff
Rob Key
Key hit a crucial 51 as Kent and Glamorgan tied
Norwich Union League D1, Cardiff (23-over match): Kent 155-8 tied with Glamorgan 155-7

Rob Key blasted 51 but Kent lost three wickets in the final over as they fought out a thrilling tie against Glamorgan in rainy Cardiff.

In the only match to go ahead in the UK, Glamorgan set Kent a target of 156 with the match reduced to 23 overs per side.

Victory looked certain for Kent as they went into the final over needing six runs with three wickets standing.

Robert Croft
Pinch-hitter Croft crashed four boundaries

But Adrian Dale dismissed Geraint Jones and Mark Ealham as Kent were left requiring six to win off two balls.

James Golding hit the next ball for four but could only manage one run off the final delivery as the sides shared four points.

Kent began their reply by putting on 32 for the first wicket before Matthew Fleming departed for 15.

James Hockley soon went but Key and Australian allrounder Andy Symonds added 50 in a crucial third wicket stand.

Symonds slammed a four and a six before he fell to Darren Thomas.

Key kept his head and by the time he was out his side were almost home, but Dale hit back for Glamorgan.

Earlier, David Hemp top-scored for Glamorgan with 39 and there were contributions from Robert Croft, Adrian Dale and Darren Thomas down the order.

Opener Croft's 23 came from just 13 deliveries, with four boundaries as the Dragons set a pace close to seven runs per over.

Captain Matthew Fleming and off-spinner James Tredwell profited with two wickets each.
