Matthew Hoggard insisted England were not disappointed by being bowled out for just 253 by a lowly Bangladesh Cricket Board President's XI. The Yorkshire seamer put England back in charge by taking 3-11 in six overs to reduce the hosts to 46-6.
And afterwards he said: "Thankfully there was a little bit of swing there. The batters nicked it and our boys caught it so it was a good outing."
Hoggard was one of four England players to record ducks.
But he refused to be downcast, saying: "We had to practice indoors all last week. It was our first outdoor net in a game.
"The outfield was fairly wet and the grass is fairly long. You didn't get value for your shots and I think the batters did a really good job.
"On this pitch if you smack it as hard as you can through the covers you only get two for it."
Hoggard injured his right knee shortly after the first Test against Zimbabwe in May, missing the entire series against South Africa.
He said: "I've had a bit of success in Yorkshire colours but it's always nice to pull on an England shirt and get a little bit of success again.
"If you swing it on a pitch you are always in with a shout. I hit my lines well early doors and it would be difficult to get me away.
"You need to patient with the bowling - you just need to nag and nag a bit like Glenn McGrath and Shaun Pollock."
