Foster is leading Shropshire's defence of the MCCA Knockout |
Captain Ed Foster hit an unbeaten 126 to lead holders Shropshire to a 61-run win over Northumberland at Jesmond in the MCCA Knockout. Foster won the toss, choosing to bat, and went straight on the attack, reaching his 126 in just 86 balls. His contribution was the mainstay of Shropshire's 208-7, and the home side could only reach 147-8 in reply. This was the side's second successive win after their three-wicket victory over Staffordshire a week earlier. The Northumberland game was restricted to 26 overs a side because of rain. But that did not worry Shropshire, who have started the season in excellent form, and have high hopes of retaining the Knockout trophy that they won at the Riverside against Lincolnshire last summer.
