Oswestry are back in Birmingham League relegation fight

Cricket round-up

Oswestry slipped back into the relegation fight in the Birmingham League third division after a heavy defeat by drop-zone rivals Brewood.

Simon Huxley took 5-44 as Brewood hit 203-9, but Oswestry then crashed to 88 all out to lose by 115 runs.

They are now just seven points clear of Brewood in the final relegation spot.

Shrewsbury's hopes of catching Knowle & Dorridge at the top of the Premier Division have all but gone after their game at Himley was rained off.

In second place with four games to go, they remain 30 points off the top.

Wellington also lost out to the weather at Wolverhampton - another game where no play was possible.

David Powles hit 48 in Shifnal's 118-9 against West Bromwich Dartmouth in Division One, but the home side were thwarted by the weather having reached just 14-0.

In Division Two, Chris Miller (64) and Gareth Hughes (47) contributed well to the St George's total of 201-8 against Shropshire rivals Whitchurch, for whom Maz Hasnain took 4-19.

Whitchurch then reached 116-6 - Simon Gregory unbeaten on 57.

David Exall scored 72 as Bridgnorth rattled up 245-9 against Tamworth - and then Tim Weaver took eight wickets for 54 as Tamworth held on for the draw on 115-9.

In the Shropshire Premier League, Wem have pulled level with the long-time leaders Madeley.
