William Porterfield will be on county duty with Gloucestershire |
Ireland wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien will miss the Intercontinental Cup and one-day internationals against The Netherlands next month. Northants player O'Brien, who underwent surgery on his damaged finger last week, is expected to be out of action for around two months. William Porterfield is unavailable because of Gloucestershire commitments so Trent Johnston captains the side. Bowler Boyd Rankin will not play as he is required by Warwickshire. Surrey player Gary Wilson, who top scored for Ireland in their last one-day international against Bangladesh, is available and will keep wicket in O'Brien's absence. The Intercontinental Cup match will be played at Rathmines from 11-14 August and the one-day internationals will take place at Clontarf on Monday 16 August and Wednesday 18 August.
Ireland squad: Trent Johnston (Railway Union), Alex Cusack (Clontarf), George Dockrell (Leinster), James Hall (Waringstown), Nigel Jones (Civil Service North), John Mooney (North County), Kevin O'Brien (Railway Union), Paul Stirling (Middlesex), Albert van der Merwe (The Hills), Andrew White (Instonians), Gary Wilson (Surrey), Craig Young (Bready/Sussex).
