John Mooney makes his ground to avoid being run out

Bangladesh exacted revenge for their five-wicket defeat at the hands of Ireland on Thursday by beating their Irish hosts by six wickets on Friday.

The home side won the toss and opted to bat first in a match which was reduced to 46 overs per side because of rain.

The Irish made 189-9, with Gary Wilson the top scorer on 60 and Shafiul Islam taking 4-54 for the tourists.

Bangladesh replied with 191-4 off 37.4 overs, Tamim Iqbal scoring 74 and Jahural Islam 34.

Early rain delayed the start at Stormont and Ireland made a poor start, losing openers William Porterfield and Paul Stirling to lie 13-2.

Wilson was aided by John Mooney, who scored 28, and Niall O'Brien who contributed 27, while Shakib Al Hasan took 2-21.

Andrew White, George Dockrell, Trent Johnston and Kevin O'Brien took a wicket apiece for Ireland.

Bangladesh continue their tour with a one-day international against Scotland in Glasgow on Monday.

Ireland can enjoy a four-week break before they play the Netherlands in an Intercontinental Cup match in Dublin on 11 August.
