Garrett and Falla put on 80 to revive Guernsey's hopes but to no avail |
Guernsey's politicians have been defeated by their Jersey counterparts in their annual cricket match. The Jersey team of States members and civil servants restricted Guernsey to 136-5 off their 30 overs at Port Soif on Friday. They then knocked off the runs for the loss of just three wickets to retain the trophy. Jersey senator Ian Le Marquand, who scored 60 runs for his side, was named man of the match. Guernsey deputy Mike Garrett, with the help of a runner, scored an unbeaten 27 adding a useful total of 80 runs in his partnership with James Falla as the Sarnians tried to recover from a poor start that saw them falter to 56-5.
