St John started their Sid Guy Memorial Trophy campaign with a convincing 98-run win over Centurions in the first round on Monday. Jon Evans and Mark Chipperfield hit unbeaten half-centuries for St John in a total of 165-1 before they reduced Centurions to 67 all out. NatWest also won, beating Centurion Braves by 10 wickets after dismissing them for just 60. And Aztec Springfield picked up a 10-wicket win over Optimus Colts.
