Cook scored 545 runs for Lincolnshire last season |
Lincolnshire captain Paul Cook could miss the early part of the Minor Counties season after receiving an 11-week ban from the Lincs Premier League. He was initially suspended for one week following an incident in a game for his club side Bracebridge Heath in July. The increased suspension is understood to relate to a subsequent alleged incident when the ban was served. Cook, who was appointed county captain at the end of last season, is to appeal against the ruling. If the ban is upheld, it would rule him out of the Minor Counties Trophy group matches against Norfolk, Suffolk, Berkshire and Cambridgeshire and also the opening three-day Championship match at home to Suffolk. Cook's original ban was imposed following his reaction to his dismissal in Bracebridge Heath's Lincolnshire Premier League match against Woodhall Spa when, as the non-striking batsman, he was given out for obstructing the field.
