Peel defeated Valkyres by three wickets to lift the Standard Bank Blincoe Cup in a rain affected final played at St Johns on Sunday. Valkyres batted first and scored 116-9 with Shahzeb Raja top scoring with an excellent 30. The Peel bowlers then took control with Colin Gilbert taking 3-14 and Rob Cottier and Phil Littlejohns both claiming two victims. Peel made a slow start but reached their total with three wickets in hand. Daniel Dickinson cracked a fine 32 and Alex Williamson turned in a very good 26 in a match played in dreadful conditions.
