The Isle of Man cricket team suffered a first defeat at the ICC Division Three Championships in Spain on Wednesday, losing by three wickets to Israel. The Manx side looked set for a heavy defeat when they were dismissed by the tournament favourites for just 80 runs in the 44th over. But the Manx bowlers hit back with a vengeance and reduced Israel to 26-6 after 25 overs. However the Israelis made their target with just two overs remaining. Garreth Roome took 3-8 and Max Stokoe returned 3-19. The result sees Israel maintain their 100% record and move two points clear of both the Isle of Man and host nation Spain. The Manx side has a rest day on Thursday before facing Malta in La Manga on Friday.
