Bridgnorth celebrated promotion into the Birmingham League Division Two despite their loss at Milford Hall.

Sam Whitney's 4-30 helped bowl Milford out for 124 and that in it self earned the Shropshire club enough bowling points to clinch promotion.

Bridgnorth slumped to 81 all out in reply but that did not dampen their celebrations on Monday.

They beat Coleshill on Saturday by 45 runs to round off a successful bank holiday weekend.

Whitchurch lost to Studley on Saturday and that was followed up with a 56-run defeat at Eastnor. But they require one more victory to secure promotion alongside Bridgnorth into Division Two.

Rajat Bhatia took six wickets and scored 58 in Newport's victory against Olton, but the Shropshire outfit slipped to a defeat against Coleshill on bank holiday Monday. With Bhatia unable to bat after picking up an injury.

Shrewsbury did enough over the weekend to ensure staying up in the Premier Division.

Ed Foster scored 155 off just 170 balls as the London Road team reached 280 against Walmley. But they could not bowl them out as they held on for a losing draw.

Shrewsbury then managed to beat Bromsgrove on bank holiday Monday. Bromsgrove reached 156-8 before Ryan Bishop's 85 earned him the man-of-the-match award and his side an easy victory.

In Division One, Wellington remain hopeful of gaining promotion but they suffered a heavy defeat against Dorridge in their first match. But they bounced back with an impressive victory against Harborne.

Wendell Wagner took 4-16, to add to his 45, in the Wellington innings, as Harborne, themselves, were bowled out for 79.

Shifnal had a disappointing weekend after their defeat against leaders Smethwick and a losing draw against Stratford.

In Division Two, St George's Hitshu Bachani took 6-26, dismissing Cannock for 120. But in reply they slumped to 90 all out. This followed a 52-run defeat against Brockhampton leaving them near the relegation zone.

In the Shropshire Premier league, there were wins for Oswestry, Wem, Albrighton, Welshpool and Madeley. Reman Services and Broseley both secured winning draws.
