Shrewsbury failed to make the National Club Championship final after losing to Chester-le-Street in the semis. Replying to the Durham side's 314-5, Shrewsbury could only make 280-9 in front of a big home crowd. "We're disappointed, but it shows the calibre of players we have at the club," said chairman Andy Barnard. Just 24 hours earlier, Shrewsbury had pulled 20 points clear of the Birmingham Premier League drop zone, thrashing Moseley by nine wickets. Wes Robinson took 4-37 as Moseley were bowled out for 106. Ed Foster (53) and Ryan Bishop (48) were both unbeaten as Shrewsbury rattled up 107-1 in just 14.1 overs. St George's are still second-bottom, but are now just two points from safety. In the Third Division, Shropshire duo Bridgnorth and Whitchurch are well clear of the rest. But Newport (85 all out) lost to Lichfield (89-3) by seven wickets as they struggle to avoid relegation. In the Shropshire Premier League, Oswestry have stayed top and are on course for promotion, despite Wem posting a useful 201-9, with Gary France making 45. Paul Robinson (5-50) and his brother Mark then (88) helped Oswestry to victory as they secured a five-wicket win. Quatt are still in the chase thanks to Dean Robinson, with his unbeaten 80 helping them to a six-wicket win over Ludlow.
