Newport's Rajat Bhatia scored a century in his side's 185 as they claimed a 30-run victory against Studley in the Birmingham League third division.

Bhatia then topped off a fine day by taking four wickets as Newport bowled Studley out for only 155.

In the Premier League, Shrewsbury's Tom Allin took five wickets as they bowled Wolverhampton out for 158.

In reply, Shrewsbury fell 21 runs short against the Danescourt outfit, who picked up 21 points in the process.

In Division One, Wellington's match against Smethwick was reduced to 40 overs. Smethwick batted first and scored 174 for 5. Faisal Shahid led the way in Wellington's run chase with 79 not out, but they finished on 163-8.

Shifnal enjoyed a seven-wicket victory against Halesowen, Adam Shimmons claiming seven wickets in helping to bowl them out for 102.

In Division Two, Steve Taylor took four wickets for St.Georges to restrict Aston Manor to 118. Chris Waldron then scored 59 to help St.Georges to a six-wicket win.

Maisan Hasnain continued his fine form with 40 as Whitchurch chased down Milford Hall's 167-9. Whitchurch won by four wickets.

In another narrow victory, Bridgnorth struggled to 122 all out against Wolverhampton-based Fordhouses, Matt Martin the main run scorer with 67. But Fordhouses fell nine runs short as they chased their target.

In the Shropshire Premier League there were wins for Broseley, Allscott, Shelton, Oswestry and Quatt. Wem had a winning draw and Bomere Heath's game against Reman Services was abandoned.
