Suffolk started their Minor Counties Championship season with a convincing 132-run over Bedfordshire in Ipswich. After opening up a first innings lead of 147 runs Suffolk declared their second knock on 184-2 with Martyn Cull top scoring with an unbeaten 73. Spinner Chris Swallow then took four wickets as Beds were dismissed for 199. Suffolk captain Justin Bishop told BBC Suffolk: "It was a great all-round team performance although maybe more with the bat than the ball." Suffolk took 23 points from the match.
